“It is not realistic to beat Van der Poel or Van Aert,” he says in a podcast, In De Leiderstrui noted. “They are on a different level. For myself, there is even a group of riders that is better. I have the ambition to get to their level, but we are talking about super riders who are barbaric in everything they do.”

He sometimes chats with Van Aert. “He trains in Calpe near my house. We met and talked for a while there. They are both great riders, very respectful too. They will never hurt you on or off course. They are two humble riders that we should enjoy.”

Orts had previously said that the two tenors are making cyclo-cross popular in Spain. “They attract a lot of attention and make sure that people turn on the television and find the cross spectacular. It is clear that the cross in Spain has taken a very important step due to the presence of Van der Poel and Van Aert.”
