Andrea Vendrame has won the 19th stage of the Giro d’Italia. The Italian won the 157-kilometer route from Mortegliano to Sappada on Friday in partly pouring rain.
The 29-year-old from the French team Decathlon rode a lonely race at the front and secured his second Giro stage victory, 54 seconds ahead of the Spaniard Pelayo Sanchez. The German Georg Steinhauser came in third.
There were no changes at the top of the overall standings. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar continues to lead comfortably ahead of Colombian Daniel Felipe Martinez and Briton Geraint Thomas ahead of the finale this weekend.
On the 20th stage on Saturday, the riders will face the last mountain stage on a 184-kilometer route from Alpago to Bassano del Grappa.
