Stallings passes Marlins in trade (source)

The Marlins substantially improved their catching situation by getting Jacob Stallings from the Pirates for right-hander Zach Thompson and prospects Kyle Nicolas and Connor Scott on Monday, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.

The change is still subject to the results of medical examinations and neither team has confirmed the report.

Stallings, who will turn 32 in December, is the current National League Gold Glove winner in catching, after finishing the season as the only mask to not allow pasbols in 104 games behind the plate. According to Baseball-Reference, he had a 3.0 WAR in 2021.
