The Fivers Margareten and UHK Krems started the quarter-finals of the local men’s handball league with victories on Sunday.
The Fivers prevailed in Bruck an der Mur against the BT Füchse with 32:28 (16:14), the Lower Austrians won their home game against Bregenz Handball with 30:21 (15:9) and thus placed in the “Best of three “series also at 1-0.
On Saturday, HC Linz caused a surprise at the start of the quarter-finals in Schwaz. The eighth in the basic round prevailed over the second with 34:30 (15:12) and thus made it 1-0 in the “best of three” series.
With a home win on Tuesday (20.20), Linz, who suffered eight defeats in nine games in the spring, could secure the coup. Schwaz had already sensationally lost the cup final against second division team West Vienna.
