Golf boom: prices are also increasing, demand is changing and women are arriving in numbers

European Golf Destinations which brings together around thirty golf courses around the world, such as the Golf National in France (our photo), has just published interesting figures which complete the survey that Golf Planète published two weeks ago on the golf boom.

If demand is growing stronger, it should also be noted that membership fees and green fees are also experiencing a significant increase and that clubs are facing a need to diversify their offer in order to retain their members.

Note also the change in consumer behavior and the emergence of new trends. Thereby,

– 78% of golf courses plan to invest in new equipment over the coming year

– 50% of new members in many European golf courses are women

– 30% of golf courses have increased their price between 10% and 20%

According to Luis Filipe, director of corporate relations at Quinta do Lago, which now benefits from a multitude of new sports and leisure equipment, there has been a fundamental change in the membership: “Customers are now younger and appreciate their quality of life and that of their families more. New golfers who are younger and younger are looking to achieve a better work-life balance.

The person in charge of the investigation, Ian Knox, thus concluded: “There is no doubt that destinations need to rethink their offer. With people now wanting to play at different times, looking for different facilities at the club with new opportunities for their families, the main challenge for golf managers in the future is to understand the demand from new members. and adapt to their new needs ”.
