BOLANAS.COM – Persija Jakarta defender Marco Motta actually received sky-high praise after failing to execute a penalty against Barito Putera.

Marco Motta was in a difficult situation during the Persija Jakarta match against Barito Putera, Friday (11/5/2021).

The Italian defender was appointed penalty executioner for Persija in the 100th minute.

The Kemayoran Tigers were awarded a penalty during the injury time second round.

Persija winger, Riko Simanjuntak, was dropped in the forbidden box by goalkeeper Barito Putera.

Referee Dwi Purba who led the match awarded Persija a penalty.

However, the incident sparked protests from Barito Putera players.

Including their captain, Bayu Pradana, who strongly protested the decision of the referee from Kudus.

Dwi Purba also had time to discuss with the assistant referee to re-determine the penalty decision.

The two referees agreed to give Persija a penalty.

The protest by the Barito players lasted for less than 10 minutes.

Even injury time which is only five minutes must be delayed to the 100th minute.

As a result, Rizky Pora was given a yellow card by referee Dwi Purba in a series of protests by the Laskar Antasari squad.

The penalty was still awarded and Marco Motta was appointed as the executor.

Marco Motta had a tense look on his face when he was about to execute the ball.

Sure enough, Motta’s shot soared and failed to bring victory to Persija.

A number of Barito players had approached Motta, either provoking or expressing their gratitude.

Of course this is a loss for Persija which incidentally acted as the host in the match.

Persija’s fate is also getting worse after three consecutive matches without winning.

But instead of receiving blasphemy, Motta was praised by former Indonesian national team coach Simon McMenemy.

“A lesson that Marco Motta has shown, missing a penalty, a mistake,” Simon wrote on his personal Instagram social media, Saturday (6/11/2021).

“But he (Motta) did not react under severe provocation, we can all learn from him. Great respect,” wrote Simon.

Marco Motta’s comments column was also flooded with comments respect from fellow footballers to football fans.

Motta asked Persija supporters not to blame anyone other than himself for failing to execute the penalty.

“I am a Man and a Professional and I take my responsibilities up front, without fear and without hiding.”

“I am very angry with myself but this is certainly not going to make me give up, quite the opposite.”

“I feel sorry for my team-mates and everyone who loves Persija so much.”

“Everyone is free to manifest and express what they think, I accept it without any problems, but please with me, not with those who have nothing to do with it,” he explained.
