Berlin (SID) – President Ingo Weiss from the German Basketball Association (DBB) can imagine Dirk Nowitzki being more involved in the interests of the German national team. “Dirk is still very interested in the DBB,” said Weiss on Monday: “I’m happy when Dirk is actively involved with us. He wants that too.”
For the day-to-day business of the association, the Texas-based NBA champion from 2011 is probably not available. The integration could also be such “that Dirk looks after our NBA players in America, holds talks with them or speaks to the owners of the NBA clubs,” said Weiss. Nowitzki is also still working as an ambassador for the home EM 2022.
Germany will co-host the EM in September 2022. The national team runs in Cologne (preliminary round) and in the event of progress in Berlin (final round). In addition, the tournament, which has been postponed by a year, will be played in Georgia, Italy and the Czech Republic.
