AKRON WTA Finals: Bitter debut for Giuliana Olmos


The Mexican tennis player Giuliana Olmos and the Canadian Sharon Fichman started demanding the best from the best duo of the season, but in the end the czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakov they imposed their quality of favorites and they took the victory in two sets, defeating Giuliana in her debut at the AKRON WTA Finals Guadalajara 2021.

Giuliana was officially presented as the first Mexican in history to play this prestigious tournament and the fans responded with their fervent support from the stands of the Akron de Tenis stadium.

The first battle of the match turned out to be attractive for all tennis lovers, because despite Giuliana and Sharon arriving as victims to face the best duo of the year, the Mexican team performed at the height during the first set, demanding the best tennis of the Czech players.

However, after the great start of the match, Giuliana and Sharon were widely outclassed. Barbora and Katerina they suffered to win the first set 6-4, but in the second set they categorically prevailed 6-1 to take the victory in what was his debut, in a duel that lasted one hour and 12 minutes.

In this way, the duo of the Czechs, together with the pair made up of Su-Wei Hsieh (Chinese Taipei) and Elise Mertens (Belgium), took the lead in the El Tajín Group with a victory each of those teams; while Giuliana and Sharon still have to wait a couple of days to seek their first win of the tournament.
