El Zayed Sports City International Tennis Center, where the Mubadala exhibition is regularly held, and the place chosen by the WTA to play a 500 tournament in the first week of 2021, is the destination chosen by Tennis Australia, as MARCA has learned, to celebrate the preliminary phase of the first major.

Given the difficulties to host the event in Australia, it has been decided to do it again outside the country. It should be remembered that last season the two venues were Doha (men) and Dubi (women).

This time it seems that the capital of the Emirates will take all the cake. The exhibition dubbed the Mubadala World Tennis Championship has moved its dates forward two weeks (December 16 to 18) to square the calendar.

On the eve of Indian Wells there have been communications between the ATP and WTA leaders with the Australian organization. It is assumed that racket professionals will be forced to quarantine upon arrival in Australia.

Tennis Australia is looking for a hotel complex where players can make their bubble, train and even play some kind of tournament. There is a month and a half until the end of the course and the roadmap for 2022 remains undiscovered, at the expense of what happens with the tour of the antipodes.

Players were already informed in previous talks during the US Open of the possibility that there is a deadline for entry into Australia, which could be around December 29. In this way, the tennis players who pass the ‘qualy’ in Abu Dhabi will travel directly to the capital of Victoria.
