Salvadoran, among the best badminton players in an international tournament in Guatemala

The Salvadoran Javier Alas has had an outstanding participation in the VII Guatemala Junior International 2021 of Badminton. Yesterday, he finished in the top four of the U19 singles, and was successful in mixed doubles. In addition, he reached the final in men’s doubles.

Alas achieved the semifinals, but in his game for the pass to the final he fell to the local Yeison del Cid, by 21-15 and 21-16.
The youth only had rivals chapines. In the first round, he beat Victor Orozco, 21-9, 20-22 and 21-11. In the quarterfinals, he beat Diego Trujillo, 21-10, 21-13. The result of his last game puts him in third place.

In mixed, he played with Daniela Hernández, and they were one step away from the final. They yielded to the hosts Antonio Ortiz and Ana González, 19-21, 23-21 and 21-15. In the first match, they defeated the locals José Ochoa and Mariana Palacios (21-12 and 21-18); and later, the Costa Ricans Marco Castillo and Arianna Rodríguez (21-6 and 21-1).

In men’s doubles, today he will play the final with Ochoa. They will face Del Cid and Ortiz. In the semis, Alas eliminated his compatriots Melvin Calzadilla and Marlon Mancía (21-9, 21-6).
