Paralympic gold for tandem duo Ter Schure and Fransen, swimmer Zijderveld and athlete Van Gansewinkel | Sport

Ter Schure and Fransen won at the Fuji International Speedway with force majeure ahead of compatriots Tristan Bangma and Patrick Bos. The bronze went to Alexandre Lloveras and pilot Corentin Ermenault from France.

Ter Schure and Fransen, who earlier in the week after material breakdown only just missed the gold in the time trial, took off early in the race. The duo’s lead only increased in the Japanese rain.

Bangma and Bos rode away from the chasing group. They arrived at more than 5 minutes from Ter Schure and Fransen. The French duo was still more than a minute behind.

Swimmer Zijderveld takes second gold

Swimmer Chantalle Zijderveld took her second gold medal in Tokyo. The 20-year-old Zwijndrechtse won the 200 meter individual medley in the SM10 class in a new world record of 2.24.85 minutes. Lisa Kruger took bronze in 3 seconds.

It is the fifth medal for Zijderveld in the Japanese capital. She previously won gold in the 100-meter breaststroke, silver in the 50 and 100-meter freestyle and bronze in the 100-meter butterfly.

Athlete Van Gansewinkel also takes gold at 100 meters

Athlete Marlène van Gansewinkel has won her second gold medal. After the native Tilburg had already won the 200 meters, she was the best on Friday in the 100 meters in the T64 class. In it, athletes come out with a double or single lower leg amputation. Her compatriot Fleur Jong missed the bronze by a hair. Kimberley Alkemade, the third Dutch finalist, was fifth.

Van Gansewinkel ran a time of 12.78 in the Olympic stadium in Tokyo, keeping the German Irmgard Bensusan and the Canadian Marissa Papaconstantinou behind. The Brabant also won bronze in the long jump. There Jong took the gold. Alkemade already had bronze in his pocket in the 200 meters.
