Next big success for Max Schönhaus: victory in doubles at tournament in Portugal with New Zealander Jamie Mackenzie

Max Schönhaus achieved the next success in his young tennis career.

Maia / Portugal – Max Schönhaus, tennis talent from Blau-Weiß Soest, celebrated another great success at a tournament in the Tennis Europe series for juniors. In singles he reached the quarter-finals in the boys 14 age group, in doubles he even celebrated victory with New Zealander Jamie Mackenzie.

In the first round of the individual, the local player prevailed 6: 3 and 6: 2 against the Greek Iraklis Kalanov. This was followed by a 2: 6, 6: 2, 6: 2 against the Brazilian Pedro Henrique Chabalgoity. After a 7: 5, 7: 6 (5) against the Bulgarian Alexander Vasilev, Schönhaus was in the quarterfinals. There was against the first seeded Russian Tomifei Derepasko with a 5: 7, 2: 6 final stop in the boys 14 competition. The Russian also won the tournament in the end.

In doubles, the blue and white played with the New Zealander Jamie Mackenzie. A 6: 1, 6: 0 in the first round against Duarte / Ramalhao (Portugal) was followed by a 6: 3, 6: 2 against Angeli / Markovina (Slovenia / Croatia). With a 6: 0, 4: 6, 10: 5 against Chabalgoity / De Camargo (Brazil / Italy), the German and his partner advanced to the semi-finals, winning against Choudra / Vasami (Czech Republic / Italy) 6: 3, 6 : 2. In the final against Kincses / Rejchtmann Vinciguerra (Hungary / Sweden), the young Enser celebrated a 6: 3, 6: 2 victory and thus the title win.

Due to the tournament participation, which lasted until Sunday, Schönhaus was understandably missing in the promotion final of the first men’s team from Blau-Weiß Soest against TC Kaunitz.
