Leased Feyenoord player Bozeník regains happiness: ‘I suggested to leave’

Róbert Bozeník was no longer needed at Feyenoord and is playing on a rental basis for the German Fortuna Düsseldorf this season. His employment with the current number eleven of the Second Bundesliga will be limited to one season or six months, he suspects.

An option to buy has been included in Bozeník’s rental deal, but it remains to be seen whether this will be lifted. “There is an option, but it can only be activated if we promote to the Bundesliga. We assume that I am here for one year, but we will see what will happen,” said the Slovakian European Championship-goer in conversation with sport.sk. “Maybe there will be an offer not to be refused in the winter, maybe I’ll be here until next summer. But the present is the most important to me.”

Bozeník wants to wash away the aftertaste of his unsuccessful Feyenoord adventure. “I feel happy now. My playing time is starting to increase again and I have already scored my first goal. Now I want to get back into the rhythm, that’s the only way I can improve.” At Feyenoord he felt increasingly unhappy after it became clear that trainer Arne Slot would not appeal to him. “I said outright that I no longer felt happy and I suggested that I leave temporarily. At first they didn’t want to hear about it, but later they came around and agreed to cooperate.”
