How Cristiano Ronaldo’s Bare Bark Was (Maybe) Premeditated | World Cup preliminary round

A goal still loosens up something for Cristiano Ronaldo, even at 36. Portugal seemed to lose 0-1 to Ireland, but Cristiano Ronaldo still stood up in the tail of the World Cup qualifier.

With his 110th (90′) and 111th (97′) goals in the Portuguese shirt, he guided his homeland beyond Ireland and also became the only record holder in international goals.

Ronaldo celebrated that belated victory and that milestone fiercely. He took off his shirt, which earned him a classic yellow card.

It was not his first card in this preliminary round, because after the tumultuous final phase in March against Serbia – with a ball over the goal line or not – Ronaldo also entered the referee’s book.

Ronaldo has a suspension on his leg, but that will not be a problem. Portugal will play a friendly against Qatar on Saturday and will face Azerbaijan next Tuesday in Baku.

Ronaldo will not make the trip to Baku anyway, but the World Cup organizer will not welcome the superstar either. Ronaldo does not have to report to national coach Fernando Santos for Saturday’s exhibition game with Qatar.

It was suggested here and there that Ronaldo knew well enough what he was doing when he once again showed his muscles, although he had waited until the very last moment to receive the wanted yellow card. Although: under the photo you can read how Ronaldo had previously applied.

They are probably laughing at Manchester United. United will play against Newcastle next Saturday and thanks to the flattered yellow half, Ronaldo would have more time to acclimatize to his “new” employer.

Cristiano Ronaldo could and should have gotten yellow (or red?) earlier.

In the first half he missed a penalty and Ronaldo got into a fight with an Irish defender in that penalty phase.

He punched Dara O’Shea, who knocked the ball off the dot, in the face. However, the referee let it pass.
