LAS TORRES DE COTILLAS / A great sports day to reopen the municipal sports center of Las Torres de Cotillas

Next Saturday, September 4, the municipal sports center of Las Torres de Cotillas will be reopened, after the improvements that the local City Council has made in these facilities. “We are very happy with the result because we have expanded our sports offer, giving a leap in the quality of service to our neighbors, both young and old,” highlights the Torreño mayor, Francisco Jesús López Manzanera.

This day will begin with the official opening ceremony (5:30 pm), which will be carried out by the first mayor. Two appointments are scheduled at 6:00 pm: the first hockey game organized by the “Roller Queen” club and the Atlético Torreño-Elche CF youth soccer game. At 7:00 p.m. a second hockey game will be played, while at 7:30 p.m. a first session of the spinning master-class will be held with live music by Javi Boss and free assistance, which will be repeated at 20:30 hours.

Almost a million euros

These works, with a municipal investment of almost 976,000 euros, have involved the construction of a locker room-stands for the Onofre Fernández Verdú football field, where its artificial grass has also been renovated. A building with 342 m2 for changing rooms -three for athletes and two for referees-, warehouses and public toilets, 267 m2 for a covered stands with 304 seats, and 278 m2 for a low-tier area, for warehouses and services.

Other facilities built have been a perimeter closed roller hockey rink, with a 44×22 meter playing field; an archery range where you can shoot from a distance of up to 90 meters thanks to its large dimensions (106×15 meters); and a 900 m2 street workout-calisthenics park. “All these facilities are adapted for people with reduced mobility and have their own lighting,” says the councilor for Urbanism, Francisco Fernández Bath, who reports that a new perimeter wall has also been built to “unify the enclosure of the sports complex.”

In addition, the construction of an athletics track around the Onofre Fernández Verdú football field has been planned, which will have a municipal investment of around 163,000 euros.
