Cuba accumulates 157 places for the Junior Pan American Games in Cali – Sports Center

Havana, Sep 7 (EFE) .- Cuba accumulates 157 places for the first edition of the Junior Pan American Games 2021, based in Cali, Colombia, after adding five of its swimmers.

The sports portal Jit specified this Tuesday that to date, Cubans have quotas in 24 disciplines called for the first youth continental games that will be played from November 25 to December 5.

The remaining 152 seats correspond to badminton, handball, baseball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, fencing, rhythmic gymnastics, karate, weights, wrestling, artistic swimming, race skating, figure skating, modern pentathlon, rowing, table tennis, taekwondo, shooting, archery, triathlon, sailing and beach volleyball.

The more than 400 Cuban athletes and coaches attending the Cali meeting will gather this week in two sports institutions in Havana where they will remain in isolation for 10 days.

As explained by the director of the Institute of Sports Medicine, Pablo Castillo, during this period the athletes will be examined with PCR diagnostic tests for covid-19 before leaving for the training centers.
