Aaron Nola Dominates Mets in Philadelphia Phillies’ Shutout Victory

NEW YORK – Right-hander Aaron Nola pitched the Philadelphia Phillies’ second nine-inning shutout this season en route to a 4-0 victory at the home of the New York Mets on Tuesday afternoon.

Nola only gave up four hits to the Mets to get the 27 outs needed. He recorded eight strikeouts.

The 30-year-old Phillies ace is off to an excellent start to the campaign: in fact, this performance marked the third time he has worked at least eight innings on the mound.

Nola’s performance (5-2) aligns with the Phillies’ collective success over the past month.

Their victory on Tuesday was their 30th in the regular season in just 43 games. This is the second best record in their history at this stage of the season.

For the team led by Rob Thomson, Alec Bohm had two hits and produced two runs.

Elevated to third in the batting order, Bryson Stott produced the insurance point, in addition to drawing three walks in the match.

As for the Mets, they now have a record of 19-22, which puts them fourth in the NL East, behind the Phillies, the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals.
