Viktor Axelsen wins gold in men’s singles, Polii / Rahayu in women’s doubles – OA Sport

The badminton program at the Tokyo Olympics ends in an exciting and spectacular way with the assignment of the last two titles, for a total of six medals, on the agenda. Let’s see how things went in the men’s singles and women’s doubles tournaments.

MALE SINGULAR

The gold medal, for the first time in his career, is worn by the Danish Viktor Axelsen who with a peremptory 21-15, 21-12 crushes the Chinese rival Chen Long, in a practically one-way final since first few bars of the game. The Odense native, born in 1994, thus comes to fulfill the dream of a career by following up, moreover, the bronze obtained in Rio 2016.

The bronze instead went to the Indonesian Anthony Sinisuka Ginting who in the final 3-4th place claimed his highest level to regulate without too many problems (21-11, 21-13) the Guatemalan Kevin Cordon, true revelation of the tournament in but it was not enough to play a beautiful badminton to go home with a medal.

DOUBLE FEMALE

In third place of the competition, instead, in the all South Korean derby, Kim Soyeong and Kong Heeyong were placed, able to regulate the most accredited compatriots Lee Sohee and Shin Seungchan (seeded No. 4), with a score of 21-10, 21-17.
