Crazy Müller interview on English TV

Thomas Müller has had a number of notable appearances off the pitch in his long career. Now his English colleagues also got a taste of the 34-year-old’s comedic talent

In the 2-2 draw against Real Madrid, Thomas Müller played his 150th game in the Champions League – making him only the third professional footballer to reach this magical limit after Iker Casillas (150) and Xavi (151).

Müller, who earned a SPORT1 grade of 3, also made a big appearance after the game when he was asked for an interview by the English TV station CBS.

When first asked how he felt about this milestone, the 34-year-old replied: “It’s not bad. You have to eat well and sleep well to reach this mark. At my age you usually need a wheelchair.”

When Müller was brought into the studio, the Bayern star said with a grin that Aurélien Tchouaméni would be listening nearby to sound out the tactics for the second leg – and was met with laughter. Tchouaméni then went to Müller and high-fived him.

Müller: “We have that “Konni Laimer feeling”

Müller then explained his view of the 2:2, with which he was not satisfied. “You saw it against Manchester City, you saw it last year – that’s just Real Madrid. You have to be careful every minute.”

A moment later, Müller turned to his left side and greeted Toni Kroos. “Yes, Toni, what is it?” said the offensive player, before switching back to English: “Toni Kroos laughs because he knows it’s always the same.”

A little later, Müller was asked by Jamie Carragher what had happened since the disgraceful 3-0 defeat in Leverkusen that they were now playing for the Champions League final. “Going through against Arsenal gave us the belief and the ‘Konni Laimer feeling’ when he chases Odegaard like a dog.” Big laughter again.

As a next punch line, Müller admitted that he was afraid he wouldn’t understand Carragher’s question. “I was scared when you came to the mic.”

Neuer about the season: “Some teams would like to swap with us!”

After Müller was asked at the end of a memorable interview how good Harry Kane’s German was and the Bayern star revealed that his teammate could handle the German numbers when he scored over 40 goals, former professional Micah Richards shouted the German numbers from one to ten into the microphone.
