Auria Bádminton Club Competes in Second Territorial Final Phase in Cantabria

The town of Torrelavega, in Cantabria, hosted this past weekend the Second Territorial Final Phase – Promotion to First Bronze of the National Club League, a competition in which the Auria Bádminton Club was present as champion of the Canary Islands. The two days of competition were very intense for the club members, concluding their participation in ninth position in the general classification.

The Auria Badminton Club traveled to Cantabria with a team made up of Adrián Carabali, Martín Barbado, Oliver Gausmann, Miguel Barbado, Ana María Mesa, Zeneida Ortiz and Abril Ramón. They were in charge of playing the individual matches, men’s and women’s doubles, and the mixed doubles.

The Lanzarote club was placed in the first phase along with Jorge Guillén (Málaga) and Belmecher (Navarra), two tough competitors who demonstrated this in the two matches played on Saturday. The Auria Bádminton Club suffered defeat in both matches, falling 2 to 5 against Jorge Guillén and by a tight 3 to 4 against Belmecher, moving from ninth to twelfth place in the competition.

Things went much better on Sunday for the Auria Bádminton Club, winning both matches played and allowing them to finish the Second Territorial Final Phase – First Bronze Promotion of the National Club League in ninth position. The Lanzarote team won 4 to 1 against Armilla, and in the fight for ninth place they won by a resounding 4 to 0 against Laguna.

The ninth position leaves the Auria Badminton Club without the possibility of achieving promotion to the First Bronze Division, but the club continues to harbor hopes of being able to be in the third highest national category of the badminton club competition next season. Every campaign there are vacancies and Auria Bádminton Club hopes to reach one of the free places.
