In the final of the Challenger in Cordenons, Italy, Francisco Cerúndolo (119 °) beat Tomás Etcheverry (148 °) 6-1 and 6-2 in an hour and a half of play to become champion for the fourth time in this category.
Undoubtedly, Argentine tennis is experiencing a great moment in the Challengers tournaments: There are already 21 times that there was a player from the country in the definition of a championship of that category.
Last week, Etcheverry beat his compatriot Thiago Tirante (283 °) by 6-1 and 6-1 and was consecrated in Trieste. And now a definition of a 100% national title has been repeated.
Given this, the porteño will climb to its best historical position in the ranking, since as of this Monday will be 111th in the world; while the platense will also reach its highest position: it will be the new 138th of the circuit.
For his part, Cerúndolo, finalist of the ATP 250 in Buenos Aires this season, celebrated the triumph in his networks:
