medi bayreuth head coach Raoul Korner receives proven support with scouting

Head coach Raoul Korner receives well-known support in putting together the medi bayreuth team for the new season in the easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga. Matthias “Matt” Haufer, who has been helping the head coach of the HEROES OF TOMORROW since 2014 again and again in the search for players, will resume his work as a scout for medi bayreuth in the future.

Already in Korner’s first two years as head coach in Bayreuth, Matt Haufer was extremely successful in helping the Austrian put together the teams and was involved in reaching the BBL playoffs in 2017 and 2018 as well as making it to the Champions League quarter-finals in 2018.

In 2019, the 40-year-old took over the position of sports director at medi bayreuth. After a short time, however, the native of Hesse realized that the role at that time was subject to an extremely large number of organizational tasks and that his actual core competence, the scouting and searching for players who were capable and willing to develop, had only limited scope. Therefore, it was agreed to terminate the employment relationship and Haufer devoted himself to other projects in the meantime. The contact to Upper Franconia, however, never broke off and after the end of the season both sides agreed to resume the cooperation in the original constellation, which had worked so well for years.

Together with Raoul Korner, Matt Haufer will try again as a scout to find players for medi bayreuth who are currently under the radar of many other teams, but who have the potential to bring our HEROES OF TOMORROW back to their old strength in Bayreuth.
