Bitter debut for Mexican tennis at the Country Club

The promising youngsters from Mexico debuted with a negative balance against foreign tennis players at the start of the ITF Juniors Cup J2 international tournament.

Among the women’s and men’s singles branches, the Mexican representatives registered six wins and 32 losses against foreign tennis players in the 32nd round of the contest that is held at the Guadalajara Country Club facilities.

In the women’s category, 18 Mexican women faced off against foreign tennis players and only four of the Aztec representatives made it to the Round of 32.

Mexicans Mariana Dominique Fuenzalida and Sarah Elizabeth Partida advanced to the next round after defeating Americans Leah Kuruvilla and Annette Robertson, respectively. Mariana won her match in two sets, while Sarah came from behind and beat her rival in three episodes.

Likewise, Mariana Reding beat the American Rose Seccia in two sets, the same result that María Fernanda Hernández obtained against the North American Baylen Brown.

Meanwhile, in the men’s category, the results were even more negative for the Mexican representatives, since of the 20 confrontations they held against foreign players, only two Aztec tennis players emerged with flying colors in the 32nd round.

Adrián Contreras sealed his pass to the Round of 32 by defeating American Mario García in two sets; while Paulo Guillermo Ramos did the same, defeating the Swiss Alan Heughebaert in two sets.

Despite the negative results before the elite of youth white sports, all is still not lost for Mexican tennis. One of the great promises such as Rodrigo Pacheco Méndez defeated his compatriot César Palafox in two sets and will seek to put the name of Mexico high when he meets the American Diego Herrera in the Round of 32.

Tennis player Alejandra Cruz is the other promise of Mexico and will make her debut in the Round of 32 facing her compatriot Mariana Reding, who has just made a good impression by defeating the American Rose Seccia.
