Eager to recruit a center forward this summer, Chelsea had ticked the name of Romelu Lukaku (28 years old, 44 games and 30 goals in all competitions for the 2020-2021 season) on his tablets. And the London club were ready to go to great lengths to convince the Belgian striker to return to London.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the European champion offered the Red Devil an annual salary of more than 10 million euros. A proposal rejected by the native of Antwerp who receives 7.5 M € per year in Lombardy.
