Javier Milei attacks him for “the accusations of corruption against his wife”

BarcelonaThe reflection period of the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, has crossed the Atlantic Ocean and given ammunition to the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, to start a bitter diplomatic battle. Milei’s indignation at the words of Minister Óscar Puente – who implied that the Argentine president had taken drugs at some point – has led to a direct attack on Sánchez, who he says “has more important problems to deal with -se, like the accusations of corruption that fall on his wife, a matter that led him to even evaluate his resignation”.

“For the good of the Kingdom of Spain, we hope that justice will act quickly to clear up this corruption scandal that directly affects the stability of your nation and, therefore, relations with our country,” the statement added. Milei “rejected the slander and insults” of the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, who in some talks about social networks said that “on the networks you play hard and, if you don’t, you go unnoticed and you are irrelevant” and referred to “very bad people who, being themselves, have reached the top of everything,” such as former US President Donald Trump and current Argentine President Javier Milei. Puente also let slip that Milei had been seen making statements in the electoral campaign “when he came out I don’t know in what state and before or after the intake of which substances”.

The statement from the Office of Milei to condemn Puente’s words, however, has put the spotlight on Pedro Sánchez, with very harsh attacks on the Spanish president: “He has endangered the unity of the Kingdom, making an agreement with separatists and leading to the dissolution of Spain; it has put Spanish women at risk by allowing the illegal immigration of those who attack their physical integrity; and it has put the middle class in danger with its socialist policies that only bring poverty and death.”

The statement expresses Milei’s wish that “the Spanish people will soon choose to live in freedom again”, since he considers that the socialist model is “the same” that brought “misery and decadence” to Argentina.

Milei will participate on May 18 in a meeting organized in Madrid by Vox, invited by its president, Santiago Abascal, who is very close to the Argentine president. Abascal accompanied Milei in his inauguration on December 10 in Buenos Aires.

The Spanish government “roundly” rejects Milei’s attacks

The Spanish government’s reaction was not long in coming and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement this Saturday in which it “roundly” rejects the “unfounded terms” of Milei’s statement, which it says does not correspond “with relations of two brotherly countries and peoples”. The statement tries to lower the tone with respect to its Argentine counterpart and assures that the Spanish government “will continue to maintain and strengthen the fraternal ties and the relations of friendship and collaboration with the Argentine people, a will shared by all Spanish society”.
