“I would like to thank Captain Jan Kovář, who contacted us this morning with the fact that the players will give up a significant part of the World Cup rewards for the benefit of the affected municipalities and to send these funds to their accounts,” said Czech Hockey President Tomáš Král.

“Members of the implementation team also joined the initiative in the morning, and we will send further support from Czech Hockey funds, so that the total help will reach one million crowns,” Král added.

Most of the amount that will be sent in the coming days was raised by a collection among representatives and members of the implementation team from the recent World Championships in Riga. The remaining part is devoted to Czech hockey.

Vítkovice also decided to help

The Vítkovice Hockey Club donated CZK 50,000 to the collection of aid to the inhabitants of South Moravia after the devastating tornado. “We deeply regret the victims and express our sincere condolences to the bereaved at least in this way. We are not indifferent to the fate of the inhabitants of the damaged villages, so as a club we decided to contribute fifty thousand crowns to the public fundraiser to help people affected areas, .

“We decided on financial assistance immediately. It goes without saying that people in need need help. I hope that thanks to our help, the impact of the destructive element will be mitigated as much as possible, “added Pavlík.
