Raonic withdraws from Wimbledon

Milos Raonic, insufficiently recovered from his calf injury, will not play the Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon (June 28 – July 11), the Canadian announced on his Instagram account on Saturday evening.

“I hurt my calf. I worked hard to heal him, but I had a little setback. So I won’t be ready for Wimbledon, ”explained the 18th player in the world.

Already absent at Roland Garros, Raonic, 30, has not played since March 30 and lost a knockout round against the Polish Hubert Hurkacz at the Masters 1000 in Miami.

Finalist on the London turf in 2016, the Canadian adds his name to the long list of absentees for the English tournament. On Thursday, the Spaniard Rafael Nadal (3rd) in the men’s table and the Japanese Naomi Osaka (2nd) in the women’s table also announced their withdrawal.
