Palworld’s Summer Update: New Pals, Islands, and Adventures Await

Palworld has already confirmed that a major update to the world of Palworld will be coming this summer. But today we got a first look at what will be included in this release, including more Pals and an entirely new island to explore.

The new Palworld island, first shown at the ID@Xbox presentation on April 29, appears to be loosely based on the Japanese spring, as the cherry blossom trees shower certain areas with their petals and pals that fit the theme. From shrines to torii gates, there’s plenty to explore when this summer update arrives in the coming months.

Palworld is getting a huge summer update

Among the new Pals, we saw a frog in classic samurai clothing practicing sword fighting with a stick, a fancifully dressed bird, what looked like a cross between a dinosaur and a mushroom, and another mystical fox-like creature. We haven’t received any names or other information about these Pals, nor any additional context on what else will be added – although we do have a general overview of what’s to come.

According to previous roadmap updates from Pocketpair, the summer update will feature “never-before-seen landscapes and exciting adventures on a new island home to many new Pals,” which is essentially what we saw in this teaser. We also know that more buildings, weapons, features and potential bosses will be added. Unfortunately, the PvP Arena is not one of these new features, as Pocketpair incorrectly announced that the new battle mode would be part of the summer update, before backtracking and announcing it for a general release in 2024 – meaning it will be released later this year.

Pocket pair keeps the ball rolling

With raid bosses already added in the last major update and players having logged more than 1.3 billion hours with the game since its launch in January, we should be in for a treat once Pocketpair is ready for the next wave to publish content. Pocketpair has done a good job so far of constantly feeding the community with new content, which of course also includes the recent Raidboss update. With the summer update, even more players could join and/or return.

One reason why many people have stopped playing Palworld is the exhausting grind in the endgame and the fact that there isn’t much to do anymore. A new island would be just the thing to get veterans back on board!
