The death of his adoptive father in February affected him deeply
The former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus Turin striker has not completely closed the door to the idea of continuing to play at another club, outside of Argentina. “I thought that moment would never come, but I’m here to tell you that I’m not going to stay at the club. It’s not a goodbye to this jersey but a goodbye, because I’ll always be there , but no longer as a player “, continued “El Apache”, one of the most popular players of his generation in the country.
Coming from a very poor neighborhood on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, an orphan of a very young father, Tévez was very touched by the death last February of his adoptive father, carried away by the Covid-19. “Boca asks you to give the maximum, and mentally, I was not able to do it. I did not have time to mourn my father who I was already playing again”, testified the attacker.
Tévez, 76 caps with Argentina, includes a Champions League (2008, with Manchester United) and a Copa Libertadores (2003, with Boca) to his list.
