Vaccination against Covid-19: Marseille makes the Vélodrome available

During the first confinement last spring, Olympique de Marseille had already distinguished itself by offering in particular to make its facilities available to women and children victims of violence.

With the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 which begins, OM is once again showing its solidarity: the club proposes to put the Orange Vélodrome stadium at the service of all Marseillais. “The club proposes to provide the Regional Health Agency (ARS) with premises within the Orange Vélodrome stadium in order to facilitate the organization of the vaccination campaign,” said Olympique de Marseille in a press release on Wednesday morning.

“The characteristics of the stadium make it possible to accommodate the necessary logistics and to set up several different environments, from the pre-vaccination consultation to the vaccination sessions, while guaranteeing the safety of vaccines and vaccination. In addition, the capacity of the Orange Vélodrome, as well as its ease of access, could promote massive support for the Marseille population when possible, ”continues the Marseille club.

As everywhere in France, the vaccination campaign in Marseille is progressing slowly. It began on Tuesday in the city’s hospitals, where former mayor Michèle Rubirola was one of the first to be vaccinated. Around a hundred nursing staff from Marseille hospitals’ public assistance followed suit during the day. But only 15,000 doses of the vaccine have arrived and the provision of the Velodrome stadium will not be too much to speed up the campaign.

“In these times of crisis, it seems normal to us to contribute as much as possible to the fight against the pandemic. Since it is unfortunately still impossible to receive our supporters at the stadium, making it available to the ARS seemed obvious to us and all club employees are ready to get involved in facilitating this vaccination campaign ”. says Abdou Sbihi, the medical technical director of Olympique de Marseille.
