PSG and Turkish Basaksehir Champions League match suspended due to racist comment from referee

Turkish Basaksehir players left the Champions League match they were playing yesterday amid controversy. A fourth referee is accused of saying “black” to Pierre Webo – a former Cameroonian player from Mallorca, today in the staff of the Ottoman team – who has seen a red card.

Demba Ba, his teammate, addressed the referee in question: “When you point to a white player, you do not say «that white player ». But when you refer to a black player, you say «that black player »The match was suspended because Ottoman players refused to continue playing in protest of the racist comment.

Then the Parisian team also withdrew from the field of play. A few minutes later the Basaksehir tweeted: “No to racism.” The message is trendy and already accumulates thousands of interactions. UEFA confirmed, minutes later, the final suspension of the match.

The match will resume this Wednesday at 6.55 pm in the Parc dels Príncipes with the same protagonists from the 14th minute, but without the refereeing team led by the Romanian Coltescu. UEFA will call another and investigate the facts. The result of the match will matter little, as PSG are already qualified for the round of 16 of the Champions League after Leipzig’s victory against Manchester United. If the French beat Basaksehir they will end up as first in Group H.
