Gießen (SID) – After nine defeats in the first nine competitive games, the JobStairs Giessen 46ers from the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) parted ways with coach Ingo Freyer. Rolf Scholz, head coach of the farm team, will temporarily look after the team. The Mittelhessen announced one day after the bankruptcy in the basement duel against Syntainics MBC Weißenfels (93: 105).

The Giessen are last in the league after six games without a win, in the group stage of the BBL Cup all three games were also lost. According to managing director Michael Koch, the separation was made “due to the current table situation”. “Such decisions are not always easy, but we have a responsibility.”

The former German national player Freyer (49) took up the post for the 2017/18 season as the successor to Denis Wucherer. Before that, Freyer had been a trainer at Phoenix Hagen for nine years.
