French Women Shine at 2024 World Judo Championships, Men Come Up Empty-handed

At the end of the individual events of the 2024 world judo championships, the French team won five medals, including one gold, but none for the men.

It is already the end of the 2024 edition of the world judo championships, as far as the individual events are concerned. In terms of the medal table, the French team occupies sixth place, with a total of five charms, and more precisely one in gold, one in silver and three in bronze. All of these podiums can be found among the ladies. It is especially in the -70 kg category that the French team impressed the most. The final was even 100% French, and Margaux Pinot had gained the upper hand over her compatriot Marie-Eve Gahié, to win the title and become world champion. Regarding the three bronze medals, one was gleaned by Amandine Buchard in the -52 kg category, the second by Clarisse Agbegnenou in the -63 kg category, while the third and last was won by Madeleine Malonga in the -78 kg category.

The French did not win a medal

Among the +78kg, Léa Fontaine did not make it past the first round of the repechage. Finally, among the -57 kg, Faiza Mokdar did not make it past the second round. As for Priscilla Gneto, in this same category, it was in the round of 16 that his adventure ended. The men, for their part, leave without any medals. In the -60 kg category, Romain Valadier-Picard did not go beyond the first round of repechage, while Port of Mkheidze did not make it past the round of 16. In the -66 kg category, Daiki Bouba et Walide Khyar also stopped in the round of 16. In the -73 kg category, Joan-Benjamin Gaba stopped in the second round. It is also in the second round that the adventure ofAlpha Oumar Djalo ended, in the -81 kg category. Daniel Zoubko, for his part, did not pass the first round. Finally, in the -90 kg category, Alexis Mathieu did not go beyond the round of 16, while Maxime-Gaël Ngayap Hambou stopped in the second round.
