They are the champions of the 2020 season in the WTA

Ekaterina Alexandrova was the first female champion of the year, beating Elena Rybakina to win the Shenzhen Open. Karolina Pliskova won the Brisbane International for the second year in a row, this time beating Madison Keys in the final.

Serena Williams won her first individual title since returning from maternity leave when she defeated Jessica Pegula in the ASB Classic finals in Auckland. Elena Rybakina added a Hobart International Champion title to her Shenzhen Finals.

World number 1 Ashleigh Barty won her first title of the season at home when she defeated Dayana Yastremska in the Adelaide International final. The American Sofia Kenin won her first Grand Slam at the Australian Open.

Kiki Bertens from the Netherlands won in St. Petersburg and beat a Rybakina in the final. Magda Linette was the master of the GSB Thailand Open and defeated Leonie Kung in the final. Simona Halep, the number 1 seed, won against Rybakina again in the final in Dubai.

It was an even set win for Aryna sabalenka against Petra Kvitova in the final of the Qatar Total Open. The British Heather Watson defeated the Canadian Leylah Fernandez in the final of the TELCEL Mexican Open in Acapulco.

Elina Svitolina, the top seed, had a difficult timeline to regain the title in Monterrey. Sofia Kenin was another seed that won the trophy, this time at the Open 6eme in Lyon when it defeated Anna-Lena Friedsam in the final.

The champions of the second part of the season

When the season resumed after the break from the global Covid-19 pandemic, won Fiona Ferro the trophy at the Ladies Open Palermo and defeated the fourth Anett Kontaveit in the final.

Simona Halep won the trophy at the Prague Open and defeated third-placed Elise Mertens in straight sets in the final. The American Jennifer Brady had a spectacular summer at home including the Lexington title.

Victoria Azarenka won the Western and Southern Open in New York after Naomi Osaka had to retire from the final due to an injury. Naomi Osaka won her second US Open title by beating Victoria Azarenka in a three-set final.

Patricia Maria Tig from Romania defeated Eugenie Bouchard in the final of the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Tennis Championship. Another clay court title for Simona Halep in Rome, where Karolina Pliskova withdrew from the finals of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

Elina Svitolina prepared for the French Open with a win in Strasbourg and defeated Elena Rybakina in the final in three sets. It was a fairytale single title for the Polish Iga Swiatek at Roland Garros, who defeated Sofia Kenin in the final.

Aryna Sabalenka won the 2020 Ostrava title after a series of exciting victories. She defeated her compatriot Victoria Azarenka in the final 6: 2, 6: 2.
