The flops of week 11: Lions far too easy to tame | Touchdown Actu (NFL Actu)

The NFL season is long and there are sometimes meetings to forget for some players, coaches or franchises. A quick overview that will make some laugh and cry others.

The Detroit Lions

For those lazy to read, the video sums up the text below, or the Season of Lions:

There is already almost nothing more to look forward to in this 2020 season for the Lions. So what ? Matt Patricia has to pack his bags. That doesn’t take anything away from his victories on the New England side and it doesn’t rule out his success elsewhere, but the point is, he fails to lift the Michigan franchise.

To illustrate the problem a little better, there is only to take the game of this week 11. The Lions lost to the Panthers without Christian McCaffrey with a wide gap (20-0) against a former quarterback of XFL who threw two interceptions in the end zone. If the extent of the damage did not strike you, I encourage you to reread the previous sentence several times.

Update on the Jets

Every year there is a wave of compassion towards the worst team in the league and that’s to be expected. Since that’s not the point of this column at all, it’s possible that New York’s green franchise will constantly find its way into it until another team is unofficially named the “worst team in the league.”

While they haven’t been completely nonexistent against the partially rebuilding Chargers and a still excellent Justin Herbert, there are some signs that never disappoint. After starting well with a blocked punt, touchdown and forced fumble, the Jets went back to their old ways. Joe Flacco threw a pick-six, a passing marvel straight out into the arms of Tevaughn Campbell who had anticipated well.

Right after that, New York had almost managed to stop the Chargers’ drive, but it was without counting on the mental error of Nathan Shepherd who was embedded in Justin Herbert after the latter had slipped. Worse, after he got up.

Joe Burrow’s injury

When a player is seriously injured, it always hits a lot of people. Whether it is the opponents (we have seen Dwayne Haskins, Chase Young and Terry McLaurin going to console Burrow, their former teammate at Ohio State) or even the fans, seeing a player have their career in question is always a time when rivalries no longer count, where everyone wishes the person in question to recover as soon as possible.

Yes, today a tear in the ligaments is surmountable, but there is never a certainty. One of the most famous examples in recent years is that of Marcus Lattimore, a former South Carolina running back, destined for a place in the top 10 of the Draft. His serious injury relegated him to the 4th round of the Draft among the 49ers where he had to go obviously after a year and a half. His knee was too damaged.

On the other side, there are winning returns. Perhaps the best example is Nick Chubb, who suffered an injury similar to Latttimore’s, but is now one of the best running backs in the NFL. So, for Joe Burrow, everyone is obviously hoping for the second solution, even more because he had given hope to a relatively lost franchise in recent years.
