The Barcelona vs Bayern Munich match will present Robert Lewandowski’s duel with Lionel Messi. Lewandowski is said to be better than Messi this season.
Bayern will fight Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals at the Da Luz Stadium, Saturday (15/8/2020). Not a few have called this duel a ‘late final’ because the two teams are seen as the strongest candidates to win.
Not just competition for one ticket in the top four, the spotlight will be on Robert Lewandowski and Messi. The Polish striker is having the best season of his career having scored 53 goals in 44 appearances for Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile Lionel Messi is not as shiny as the previous seasons. Even though the Argentine superstar successfully scored 31 goals and 26 assists in 43 appearances for Barcelona.
The former Brazilian star who played at AC Milan and Bayern, Giovane Elber, believes that Lewandowski is superior to Messi at this time.
“Right now, Lewandowski is better than Messi,” Elber told IMAGE. “I love what Messi is doing and how he plays, so far he has been a top player for many years, a genius, but Lewandowski has been outstanding this season.”
“He can do anything and convert all the balls that reach him into goals. And he will continue to do so. He’s having a spectacular season.”
Lionel Messi will be Bayern’s biggest threat at the weekend. The owner of six Ballon d’Or has scored four goals plus two assists in five meetings with Bayern Munich. On the other hand, Robert Lewandowski has scored once against Barcelona in two encounters.
