A big factor has already changed for Dak Prescott’s future contract negotiations with the Cowboys

It’s been over a month since the franchise deadline passed and the Dallas Cowboys haven’t been able to strike a long-term deal with their quarterback Dak Prescott. Following the failed negotiations, Dak will play the 2020 season on the franchise label he has already signed and will be paid $ 31.4 million. There are obviously worse situations to be in, but it goes without saying that Dak wants a long-term deal.

It also goes without saying that the Cowboys want their quarterback locked up for the long haul, but wanting is only half the battle. For some reason, the Cowboys couldn’t agree with the portrayal of Dak – CAA and Todd France.

The Creative Artists Agency and Todd France have agreed to separate

There is now something interesting on this front. CAA and Todd France have officially separated.

Why is this important and what does it have to do with the Cowboys and / or Dak, you ask? Again, Dak is represented by CAA and her agent is Todd France. The fact that these two parties no longer work together is quite important.

We obviously don’t know what the next step is for Todd France but it makes sense that he continues to work in the industry. Wherever he ends up, it’s possible that Dak will choose to follow him and keep him as his representation, or maybe Dak will want to stay with the CAA as a whole. For what it’s worth, a similar situation befell Amari Cooper last year and Cooper stayed with his agent.

You might remember Prescott initially hired Todd France in 2018 as he knocked on the eligibility door for his first non-rookie contract. Two offseason have passed since then and Dak still doesn’t have that deal, but he wasn’t the only Todd France client to stay on the franchise label this offseason which was a topic that got a lot of attention.

There’s a lot that needs to happen between now and the conversation between Dak and the Cowboys resumes. Hope many understand the team that won the Super Bowl, but either way, this story has taken an interesting turn.
