Tiger Woods praises the fantastic Black Lives Matter movement

Before the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, Woods believes the BLM movement is a way to advance society on its path to equality.

“I think changes are fantastic,” he said in a press conference. “As long as we make changes without hurting the innocent – and unfortunately that happened, hopefully not in the future – but moving and changing is fantastic.

“This is how society develops. This is how we grow. This is how we move forward. We have fairness. Unfortunately, we have lost innocent lives in this way, and hopefully we will not lose any more in the future if we move to a much better place socially. “

“A silent and different world”

Woods confirmed on July 9 that he would be playing at his first PGA tour event in five months after last playing at the Genesis Invitational in February.
The 15-time lead winner took part in ‘The Match II’, a charity golf game with himself and Peyton Manning against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. The game took place in Florida, USA, without fans and was the most viewed golf show in the history of cable television.

As golf tournaments return without fans present to prevent Covid-19 from spreading, playing without spectators at the Woods Memorial tournament will be a “quiet and different world”.

“I’m used to having so many people around me or even touching me, from green to tee,” said the 44-year-old.

“I looked at it and said: ‘Well, I’m really not entirely satisfied with this whole idea. Let’s see how it developed first and how the TOUR developed, how it started. And I feel good enough to get out of here and play again and I’m looking forward to it. ‘”

Woods in Ohio includes Rory McIlroy, five-time major champion Phil Mickelson, 2018 memorial champion Bryson DeChambeau, and big winners Dustin Johnson and Sergio Garcia.

And while he praised the safety measures that the tour introduced, Woods admits that traveling to a tournament is still a “risk”.

“That’s the risk I’m going to take, the risk we’re all taking now,” said Woods, who is one win behind the record-breaking 83 PGA Tour wins.

“The tour has done a fantastic job of protecting us and ensuring that we are all safe. But it is now a risk you take when you are outside your property and close to people you are don’t know where they are. ” I was and what you did.

“But the screening and testing we did, the protection we tried to implement on the tour showed that we had to make adjustments, but I’m willing to take that risk.”
