Swimming pool training is no longer subject to the eight square meter requirement for the visitor

Training in swimming pools should no longer be subject to the requirement of eight square meters per visitor, the government decided on Wednesday.

The draft amendment to the government regulations envisages that the conduct of sports training (lessons) and sports competitions in swimming in public swimming pools should not be subject to the requirement to provide an area of eight square meters of water surface per visitor.

The Ministry of Health (MoE) explains that swimming training is conducted under the guidance of a certified swimming coach, and the swimming skills of organized training participants (including different swimming styles, most of which involve breathing in the water) almost completely eliminate the risk of infection during training or competition.

Thus, training and sports competitions in swimming will be subject to the same legal regulation included in the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers as in other sports, the MoD points out.

The rules for other sports provide that they may waive the distance requirement of two meters apart.
