The Donosti Virtual Cup 2020 begins

Once the registration process is finished, the first rounds of matches for the ‘Donosti Virtual Cup 2020’ begin today, the alternative tournament that has been organized due to the Covid-19 crisis and with which it is intended to keep the international spirit alive. of the Donosti Cup during this first week of July.

A total of 340 teams have registered that will represent 18 different countries: Spain, Portugal, France, England, Denmark, USA, Canada, Mexico, Panama, Honduras, Peru, El Salvador, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Singapore, Palestine and South Africa . Gipuzkoa, with more than 200 participants, will once again be the province with the highest representation, something that is also common in face-to-face editions. It remains to be seen if the Gipuzkoan teams also manage to get a place in the prize list of this online edition as they often do in traditional editions.

The competition will start today and will last until Saturday 11 when the tournament finals will take place. The matches will last 15 minutes and will be played under the “friendly mode with average 85”. FIFA 20 will be played with the Play Station and 1 against 1. The qualifying rounds will be for the best of three matches and if a match ends with a draw, the ‘golden goal’ will be disputed, with the winner being the first to score.

It should be remembered that the champion of the tournament will have the privilege of playing a friendly match against Real Sociedad captain Mikel Oyarzabal. The Donosti Cup Foundation will take advantage of the tournament to carry out a solidarity action and will pay € 1 for each goal scored during the final phase of the tournament (about 700 matches).
