A few days after the pandering at Manchester City (4-0), Liverpool has started with the victory. Two late goals yielded a first home win as a Premier League winner. The Manchester City points record – 100 in 1 season – remains in the crosshairs.
Liverpool did not reach its top level and only swept the 0 off the board late. 71 minutes into the game, Mané converted the team’s second shot into a goal. He made it 1-0 from the bottom of the crossbar.
Just before the whistle, 19-year-old substitute Jones doubled the score. With a volley he made his very first goal in the Premier League.
For Liverpool, it was the 17th home win in as many games this season. The team has not lost any points at Anfield since the 1-1 against Leicester early last year.
