(Reuters) – Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce wants the Premier League to “clarify” about Saudi Arabia’s proposed takeover of the club because the delay in approving the contract is “not healthy for anyone.”

A group with an expected investment of 80% from the Saudi state fund PIF has made a £ 300 million ($ 370.95 million) offer to buy United from British businessman Mike Ashley.

The club is waiting for the result of the test of the owners and directors of the league. The Premier League has not commented on its approval process.

“I think everyone needs a little bit of clarity,” Bruce told the British media after losing 2-0 to the FA Cup quarter-finals against Manchester City on Sunday.

“And if I have to believe that it is the Premier League that stops all negotiations, they have to make a decision sooner or later. It is not healthy for anyone.

“… We have another game on Wednesday (in Bournemouth) and we have a wonderful opportunity. We can’t use that (the takeover) as an excuse, but we need a bit of clarity and we put it to bed in one way or another. ”
