Paris Saint-Germain presented, in the 2021/2022 season, the highest personnel expense in the history of football. The revelation was made in the Football Benchmark study.
Parisians spent €728 million, up 45% on the previous season, representing 109% of revenue. The signings of Messi, Sergio Ramos, Hakimi and Donnarumma made the payroll skyrocket even further, which already included the salaries of Mbappé and Neymar. PSG had a loss of €369 million, accumulating €700 million in three years, which was worth a fine from UEFA worth €65 million.
