Jakarta (VNA) – During the third competition day of the 11th Southeast Asian Games for the Disabled (ASEAN Para Games 11) on August 2, Vietnamese swimmers won five more gold medals.

In particular, Danh Hoa pocketed two gold medals in the men’s 200m freestyle (S4 category) and 50m butterfly (SB3 category).

His teammate Do Thanh Hai finished first in the men’s 50m breaststroke (SB3 category) with a time of 42 sec 40.

Nguyen Hoang Nha and Vo Huynh Anh Khoa also won gold in the men’s 100m backstroke categories S6 and S8, respectively.

Until Tuesday afternoon, the Vietnamese swimming selection has won 11 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals, approaching its goal of 13 gold. In addition to these performances, Vietnamese swimmer Le Thi Dung broke a regional record in the women’s 400m freestyle (category S8).

The 11th ASEAN For Games take place from July 30 to August 6 in the city of Surakarta, Central Java Province, Indonesia.

The Vietnamese delegation comprises 153 members, including 120 athletes who compete in eight disciplines, namely athletics, swimming, powerlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo and archery. -VNA
