FC Bayern Munich: Uli Hoeneß is stepping up in the dispute with coach Tuchel

As of: April 29, 2024 2:17 p.m

Uli Hoeneß and Thomas Tuchel – this will probably no longer become a love affair. After the dispute he caused over Tuchel’s treatment of young players, the club’s honorary president even stepped up.

Honorary President Uli Hoeneß does not give in: Despite the lack of understanding shown by all sides – including Reiner Calmund – about his ill-timed criticism of Tuchel and the dispute he instigated, the 72-year-old has now followed up in the “Kicker”. Hoeneß assured that Tuchel would rather demand new players than improve his own in the event of failure. He added that he thinks the row between him and the coach was blown up by the media.

Hoeneß: “Determined to make my opinion clearer again”

At the same time, the former “Attack Department” of the German soccer record champions emphasized that they would not keep their assessments hidden in the future. Rather, the 72-year-old announced that he was “determined to make my opinion clearer again.”

Tuchel: “Topic has been ticked off”

Thomas Tuchel was of course also asked about it again at the press conference before the semi-final first leg against Real Madrid, but the future former Munich coach dismissed it: “I won’t say anything more about that, the topic has been ticked off.”

In an appearance on the FAZ last Friday, Hoeneß indirectly accused Tuchel of showing his human side too rarely to the professionals. Tuchel then reacted angrily. He felt his “coaching honor had been violated,” he said on Saturday on the sidelines of the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt (2-1), and Hoeneß’s statements were “absolutely baseless.”

Pronunciation? Max Eberl’s wish remains unfulfilled

Sports director Max Eberl had to moderate an ill-timed argument a few days before the most important game of the season in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid on Tuesday (9 p.m./live in the radio report on BR24 Sport). His wish that the “two men” would sort it out by Tuesday was not fulfilled.
