Latvian Štolcermanis has come to the attention of Ferrari’s young driver academy : F1LV Blog

The talented karting driver Tomas Stolzermanis, together with three other talented young men, got a great opportunity to participate in the Ferrari Driver Academy Scouting Camp in Maranello, continuing to pave his way towards the top of motorsport.

The new scouting project, which was created under the auspices of the “Ferrari” driver academy, was created to evaluate the skills of the most talented karting drivers in a timely manner and to assess whether one day they would be able to represent the “Ferrari” Formula 1 team. All four candidates selected by “Ferrari” were born in 2006 or 2007, including the 15-year-old Stolcermanis.

Last year, Stolcermanis proved himself brilliantly in the junior class, winning the prestigious one Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals competition. The success did not stop this season either – a month ago, Tomas finished first in the events organized by RGMMC Champions of the future 2022 competition.

In addition to Stolzerman, the program also includes Swede Oskar Pedersen, as well as Italians Nicolas Lacorte and Matteo de Palo. The quartet will spend four days at Ferrari’s Fiorano test track, where the young drivers will be taught various aspects of racing, including promoting physical development and the ability to keep a cool head in stressful situations. Stolzerman and his teammates will also have the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of Formula 4 and conduct tests.

At the end of the cycle, the experts of the Ferrari driver academy will decide whether to continue cooperation with the young talents. In case of a favorable scenario, Stolzermanis could be included in the Ferrari young driver academy at the end of the year.

At the moment, there are nine drivers in the “Ferrari” young driver academy – Mick Schumacher (F1), Calum Aillot (last year F2), Robert Schwarman (last year F2), Artur Leclair (F3), Oliver Berman (F3), Dino Beganovic (Regional European Formula Championship ), James Wharton (F4), Maja Veuga (F4), Rafael Camara (F4) and Laura Campsa Torras (Karting).

Sergio Perez, Gilles Bianchi, Charles Leclair and Mick Schumacher were able to drive in the Formula 1 championship through the “Ferrari” driver academy, while Lance Stroll and Guanyu Zhou were part of the academy before entering F1.
