With Hernandez, Koundé and Tolisso against Portugal

As announced in our editions and on leparisien.fr from Monday, Didier Deschamps will make three changes to face Portugal this Wednesday in Budapest (9 p.m.), for the third match of group F. Lucas Hernandez returns to his position as left-back at the Lucas Digne’s place, Benjamin Pavard gives way to the neophyte Jules Koundé as right-back, and Corentin Tolisso replaces Adrien Rabiot in the midfield.

The coach, however, maintains his confidence in the three attackers, Kylian Mbappé, Karim Benzema and Antoine Griezmann. Their agreement has not been entirely satisfactory since the start of the tournament since they have scored only one goal through the Barcelona player and this trio needs benchmarks.

To do this, the tactical disposition of the Blues should evolve and Griezmann should find a more axial role behind Benzema and Mbappé as was the case during the two preparation matches against Wales (3-0) and Bulgaria (3 -0). Tolisso, who has come into play twice since the start of the Euro, could take on the role of a right lane midfielder to relieve Jules Koundé, the Sevillian, who will give him his second selection.

The Blues, already qualified for the round of 16 of the competition, hope to win against the reigning European champion. This would allow them to face Switzerland or Ukraine next Monday in Bucharest. In the event of second place, Didier Deschamps’ men would face England while third place would see them play against the Netherlands or Belgium.
