Officials from fourteen Algerian sports federations have been invited by the Local Directorate of Youth and Sports of Oran (DJS) to visit the sites scheduled to host the Mediterranean Games in the summer of 2022.
« As the rehabilitation works of almost all the sports infrastructures chosen to house the JMs are coming to an end, we deemed it necessary to invite the officials of the federations concerned to supervise the last technical alterations so that the sites in question are conform to international standards.»
According to him, “Since it is these federations that will use the equipment in question, their opinions inherent in the technical aspect of the work are important to us in view of the approval by the international sports bodies of the rehabilitated sports venues. “
The federations concerned are that of tennis, weightlifting, volleyball, badminton, sport shooting, equestrian sports, karate, judo, taekwondo, boxing, table tennis and fencing.
The president of the Algerian Cycling Federation, Kheïreddine Barbari, was also present in Oran on the occasion of the 25th Grand Prix of the city of Oran and the 3rd stage of the Algerian Cycling Cup. He thus had the opportunity to discover the circuits proposed for the conduct of the competitions of the little Queen during the JM.
The DJS of Oran said he was, moreover, delighted by the general observation made by his hosts about the quality of the upgrading works of the infrastructures visited, appreciating the remarks made for the occasion and “which will be taken into account before the completion of projects“, He assured.
Several sports infrastructures have benefited from extensive rehabilitation works in Oran in anticipation of the 19th edition of the JM, operations having enabled this city to have a “modern park and become a real sports center in the country», Welcomed Yacine Siefi.
In addition to renovating and upgrading around fifteen sports facilities, Oran is also preparing to take delivery of a large-scale Olympic sports complex located in the town of Bir El Djir, comprising among others a football stadium of 40,000 seats, a sports hall with 6,000 seats, an athletics stadium with 4,200 seats and a nautical center with three swimming pools.
