Lao Cai Province Opens Junior and Senior Sepak Takraw Tournament

The opening ceremony of the Lao Cai Province junior and senior sepak takraw tournament brought together 21 teams and 200 athletes from across the province, vietnam.vn reported. The competition runs from November 6 through November 8.

The athletes, drawn from secondary schools, colleges and adult education centers throughout Lao Cai, entered the competition with a sporting attitude and strong determination, the report said. The organizing committee handed commemorative flags to each of the participating teams during the ceremony. The report also described all of the athletes as secondary school students, a detail that differs from its account of participants coming from colleges and adult education centers as well.

The matches were lively, with an atmosphere of togetherness, fairness and sportsmanship that created a competitive environment among the students, vietnam.vn reported. The athletes also took part in the men’s and women’s team events, with dramatic moments on the court.

Tournament runs through November 8

The event gives athletes a chance to connect, learn from one another and sharpen their match skills, while also helping discover and nurture young talent in sepak takraw — footvolley — in schools, the report said. The celebration gave the teams an extra boost as the competition got underway.
