Four para-arqueros from the Meta department are currently representing Colombia at the Campeonato Parapanamericano de Tiro con Arco in Lima, Peru. The continental tournament, which began on October 19 and runs until October 26, serves as a crucial step in the qualification path for the Juegos Parapanamericanos de Lima 2027. The athletes are focused on bringing contributions to the country as they pursue the road to the 2027 Games.
The delegation’s campaign aims to secure standout results against international competitors while advancing the country’s multi-year aspirations. The athletes from Meta form part of a broader roster selected by the Federación Colombiana de Tiro con Arco to face the continental challenge. Each presentation on the shooting line represents an important step in the national delegation’s aspirations. Their participation reflects the work developed during the preparation phase and provides the opportunity to measure themselves against some of the continent’s most important competitors.

Héctor Julio Ramírez, Jairo Fabián Burgos, Mónica Daza Guzmán, and Mayra Alejandra Mosquera are the four representatives from the llanero region competing in the recurve bow category. Together, they integrate the men’s and women’s recurve teams for Colombia.

Beyond the Meta contingent, the national squad features competitors across compound bow and W1 categories. The compound team includes Antioquia natives Junior Rentería, Ariana Correa, and Yasneide Peñaranda, alongside Risaralda’s Cristian Correa. In the W1 division, Cundinamarca’s Angie Alarcón represents the country in the women’s branch, while Miguel Ángel Patarroyo of Boyacá competes in the men’s branch.
Preparation and Coaching Staff
Prior to arriving in Peru, the 10-person Colombian delegation completed two distinct training phases in Bogotá. The initial phase involved a training camp featuring international experts, followed by a concentration period dedicated to refining technical details, strengthening team and doubles coordination, and familiarizing athletes with competition equipment.
The coaching staff guiding the national team consists of Juan Felipe Mesa, who serves as the recurve bow coach, and Juan Fernando Giraldo, who oversees the compound bow competitors. Under their direction, the athletes continue their presentations in Lima with the ultimate objective of securing qualification berths for the upcoming Parapan American Games. Under their guidance, the athletes face the continental challenge with the goal of obtaining results that bring Colombia closer to the next Parapan American Games.
